Praying for a Godly Man: 18 Prayer Points

  1. Father, your word says that,  if I delight myself in you—if I enjoy and seek your pleasure above mine—you'll give me the desires of my heart (Psalm 37:4). I thank you because, You have granted me my desires in Jesus name.
  2. Hebrews 13:4 says, Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Father, I receive grace to keep chaste as a single woman. My marriage will be honorable and my marriage bed will be kept pure all my life in Jesus name.
  3. Heavenly Father, in Genesis 2:18, You said that "it is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper suitable for him." You created Eve to be a suitable partner for Adam. Thank you creating me as a suitable partner for my man. I ask that you prepare me ready and suitable as well as make the man you have chosen for me to be ready and suitable.
  4. Lord, I ask for one of your Sons in Glory, a man after your heart, a man whose ways please the Lord God, a husband whose love for me is only outmatched by his love for you; a man who will cherish me and praise me (Proverbs 31:28); a man who will honor me (I Peter 3:7) and our marriage vows; a man who will be a good father and provider; a man whom I will be attracted to physically, emotionally, and spiritually; a man who will love me as Christ loved the church (Ephesians 5:25).
  5. Heavenly Father, in these times, it is easy to get into desperation to fit into men's plan, calendar and timing. I ask that you preserve me from attaching myself to a man out of desperation. I will not settle for a relationship that's second best, convenient, or one that feeds my insecurities.
  6. Lord God, every insecurity and fear—known and unknown to me, expose them to the light of your word. According to Psalm 13:3, Look on me and answer, LORD my God. Give light to my eyes, or I will sleep in death—make a wrong judgement and do wrong.
  7. Grant me the patience to wait for the right man and open my eyes of understanding to know that he is the one, irrespective of what I see with my physicals eyes and senses (1 Sam. 16:7).
  8. Lord God, release from me the baggage of past relationships, and prepare me for the man you have chosen to be my husband.
  9. Free me from any hindrances to a healthy and godly marriage: insecurities, habitual sins, selfishness, and emotional hurts.
  10. Dispel my unrealistic expectations that set me up for disappointment. I place my trust in you rather than my partner.
  11. Eph. 1:17-19 says that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give to me the spirit of wisdom and of revelation in the knowledge of Him. I pray that the eyes of my heart may be enlightened, so that I will know what is the hope of  Your calling, what are the riches of the glory of Your inheritance in the saints, and what is the surpassing greatness of Your power towards me.
  12. Enable me Lord to maximize my time of waiting as a single woman. In this period of waiting, I will look to you alone to be my companion and best friend.
  13. Father, Thank You, for you are the one who redeems my life from the pit, who crowns me with love and compassion, who satisfies my desires with good things (Psalm 103:4-5).
  14. Lord, I will not be anxious, but as I present my requests to you, flood me with the peace that surpasses all understanding so my heart and my mind are guarded in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:6,7).
  15. In this request, I commit myself to trust you and do good, to dwell in the land and feed on your faithfulness.
  16. Father, I commit my way to you, I trust you to establish a godly and blessed home for me (Proverbs 16:3; Psalm 37:35). I thank you because you have established my plans and answered my prayer beyond what I ask or could imagine.
  17. I thank You for a husband who is not covetous, self-willed, easily angered or lifted up with pride. Father, my husband will rule well his own house, our children and I will be in subjection to him according to Your Word.
  18. I thank You for a trustworthy husband who will please me and render due benevolence unto me according to Your Word.
I ask all in the name of Jesus Christ by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
